Creativity has always been the common thread in Karen Marchetti's work. As an award-winning longarm quilter, quilt artist, educator, and digital pattern designer, she has made a significant mark in the quilting community, with more than 20 years of quilting experience. Her quilting journey began in 2003 with a single quilt top, and by 2005, she had purchased her first longarm quilting machine and opened Creative Longarm Quilting. Just one year later, she showcased her talents in a quilt show and returned home with a Judge's Choice award. Over the years, Karen's longarm products and quilting classes have gained recognition, not only for her quilts but also for those she has stitched for clients. For Karen, however, the focus has never been solely on the stitches—it's always been on the thoughtful choices behind her designs, including her innovative digital quilting designs and unique hand embroidery patterns.

In 2012, Karen became a Gammill Quilt Artist, and from 2018 through 2025 she traveled and taught as a Gammill Educator. Along the way, she taught quilters across the country, developed classes and educational programs, and continued building a style known for movement, texture, and a willingness to play with the unexpected.

Today, Karen has returned her full focus to Creative Longarm Quilting, where all of those creative threads have come together. She continues to quilt for clients — offering both hand-guided custom quilting and computerized edge-to-edge quilting. Additionally, she designs digital quilting patterns, classes, books, rulers, and educational resources that cater to all levels of quilters interested in longarm products.

Karen has also created the Quilty Stitches Club, a digital quilting design membership that features exclusive new patterns delivered to members each month.

For quilters who want to dig deeper into the reasoning behind their quilting choices, Karen’s Patreon community offers a unique perspective. Through Quilty Insight and Quilty Intent, she explores concepts like scale, density, movement, emphasis, and design decisions — helping quilters learn to see their quilts differently and make choices with greater confidence.

Her teaching has evolved alongside her quilting journey. Instead of handing quilters a collection of rigid rules, Karen encourages them to understand why certain quilting choices work, empowering them to develop their own eye for design, cultivate their personal style, and gain the confidence necessary to make decisions independently.

In addition to her longarm quilting, Karen has also returned to another longtime passion: hand embroidery. She creates original hand embroidery patterns and designs that translate her drawing style from the quilting machine to hand stitching.

Stay curious. Try things. Pay attention to what happens. And don’t be afraid to make it your own. Because quilting isn’t just about stitches; it’s about intention.
